We Are Back from Austin, Texas!
Sorlie Arts took a trip down to Texas for some education and inspiration at the first ever [in]focus video event. It was even more impacting than we could ever have imagined. Emily and I made great new friends, learned a tonne of technique and came back with an even greater passion for what we do. Can't wait to put everything we learned into practice. A good friend of ours - Aaron Tharpe from 31Films in Houston, Texas made three short recap videos that highlight a bit of what happened at the event. This last video made by a new friend of ...
Why do we film weddings? Why should you have your wedding filmed?
This isn't a sales pitch. If you haven't met us yet, we're the furthest thing from sales people. I had some thoughts that I wanted to put 'to pen' (although no ink was used in the typing of this post). I started to think about the question 'Why should couples have their wedding filmed' after Emily and I spent some time with family this past Christmas. One of our extended family members (who we don't see more than once a year) didn't know about Sorlie Arts so we preceded to tell her a bit about what we do. We told her ...
Sorlie Arts Wedding Trailer – Kyle & Jessica Arends
Hello Everyone, The wedding season is underway which is great. We were very excited to film Kyle & Jessica Arends' wedding back in April. They are such a wonderful couple. One of my favourite parts about that wedding was that we got to work with Dave Biesse and Charlotte Leonard from DaveAndCharlotte.com. I might be a bit biased because they photographed our wedding, but I love their work and would reccomend them to anyone.
Hey Photographers!
Hey Photographers. So - you've got a website. You've got a cool song or two that you've picked and you've got some photos on there. If you haven't noticed - so does every other photographer. So what makes you different? Sorlie Arts can help. A promotional video that introduces you and your shooting style, personality & interaction with other clients will help you grow your business. Check this one out that we just put together for Cassie Jacklin out of Parry Sound, ON. Photographers in general tend to promote their portfolio well before they promote themselves. Mind you, there are some ...
Sorlie Arts in Action
I had the pleasure of filming Nanda & Richmond's wedding on July 18th. They are such a fantastic couple and tonnes of fun to be around. Their families were hilarious too! We laughed so much that night! One of the highlights of their wedding was getting the opportunity to work with Janelle Scriver who is a new photographer in Barrie, studying her craft at Georgian College. Janelle grabbed a shot of me working at the wedding and I love it so much that I decided to use it here. [caption id="attachment_269" align="alignleft" width="499" caption="Thanks to Janelle Scriver for taking this shot of ...
Thank You – A Year in Review
So today is New Year's Eve and over the past few days I've been taking time to reflect on 2009. So much has happened and it feels like the time has passed in the blink of an eye. I can recall having the conversation with Emily (my wife) back in mid February as we were packing boxes to move to a new apartment about the idea of starting our own business. You see, I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I loved building lego when I was a kid, I 'managed' my own band in high school including planning ...
Pie – Wood Fire Pizza Joint – Update!
We are very excited about the tremendous success that the new restaurant Pie is having since opening in January. As you may have seen, Sorlie Arts created a video that has been seen literally across the globe! The video, which you can see below, shows the installation of the restaurant's Wood Fire Pizza Oven. With over 3000 views on this website alone in the last month, along with views through links from US websites and even some in Europe, Pie has been gaining incredible exposure in part thanks to the video we created. If you haven't yet been to Pie, ...
